Coquitlam splits neatly into two kinds of job. Up on Burke Mountain and Westwood Plateau you have newer homes, often three storeys, built into slope, with the double-height entry glass and big stairwell windows that came in with modern design. Down in Austin Heights and Maillardville the housing is older and lower, with mature trees over it.
The mountain side is where the interesting work is. Homes up there sit right against second-growth forest, which means conifer needles in gutters year-round and organic film on shaded glass — the same problem the North Shore has.
